A year-round wonder, the Portland Classical Chinese Garden is an authentically built Ming Dynasty style garden. Covered walkways, bridges, open colonnades, pavilions and a richly planted landscape frame Zither Lake, creating views that are never twice the same. This urban oasis of tranquil beauty and harmony, built by Suzhou artisans will inspire and engage all who visit.

Ecotrust was created in 1991 by a small group of diverse people who sought to bring some of the good ideas emerging around sustainability back to the rain forests of home. We set out to characterize this region and articulate a more enduring strategy for its prosperity. These efforts are predicated on the notion, gaining an ever wider currency, that economic and ecological systems are mutually interdependent. To this relationship Ecotrust and others have sought to add a third "e" — social equity — to ensure that economic development awards benefits to all the region's citizens. Economy, ecology, equity: the triple bottom line.

Jantzen Beach Amusement Park was heralded as Portland’s Million Dollar Playground. When Carl Jantzen and his partners at Jantzen Knitting Mills opened Jantzen Beach Amusement Park on May 26, 1928, it was the largest amusement park in the nation. The park sprawled over 123 acres on Hayden Island where the Jantzen Beach SuperCenter sits today. It's been almost 76 years since that day. Only a few remnants remain at the site, including a collection of photographs of the park, the CW Parker Carousel built in 1921 by CW Parker in Leavenworth, Kansas and an original park bench that now sits outside the carousel enclosure.
